Originally developed for President Cruzado’s winter holiday card, the initial winter scene set the foundation for a larger illustrated series. This series evolved into a seasonal timeline that creatively interprets the phrase “Season’s Greetings.” Featuring Montana State University as a whimsical wonderland suspended in the sky, the design draws the viewer in with detailed illustrations of iconic campus landmarks and beloved characters, celebrating the spirit and identity of the university in a playful, imaginative way.
To effectively convey the winter season, the greeting card design incorporated more than just a snowy backdrop. Key visual elements—such as Champ building a snowman and a duck skating across Montana State University’s iconic Duck Pond—add warmth and charm. Decorated pine trees further enhance the festive atmosphere, creating a joyful and recognizable holiday scene.
As the series transitions from winter to spring, visual elements subtly shift to reflect the changing season. The snowman begins to melt, and the ice on the Duck Pond breaks apart—signaling the arrival of warmer days. In keeping with the theme of renewal and growth, the color palette evolves to lighter, brighter tones, capturing the fresh energy of spring.

The summer card captures the season’s warmth and vibrancy through a fully blossomed landscape, complete with sunlit skies and apple-filled trees. With the snow long gone and nature in full growth, a saturated and vivid color palette was used to reflect the energy and brightness of summer.
Fall
As fall arrives, the landscape transforms with warm, changing foliage—signaling the transition from summer to winter. The color palette becomes more muted and earthy, reflecting the fading vibrancy of summer and the quiet approach of the colder season. This subtle shift in tone helps convey the natural rhythm of seasonal change.
